In 1984, after retiring from the United States Air Force, Mike Hurlburt became a property superintendent. He looked after a golf course and a nearby estate, and his standard of work earned him a first commercial contract: a bank property in Tampa.
Word of Mike’s standards spread, and the business steadily grew. One property became a portfolio of commercial work across Tampa.
In 2019 Justin Hurlburt joined as managing partner, after 12 years as Regional Director of Sales and Customer Service at Hapag-Lloyd Container Line and an executive customer service role at Masonite in Tampa. In 2020 Mike passed the reins to his son and retired to spend time with his wife and grandchildren, fishing across Florida.
Forty years later the business still runs on the same terms. Show up when you said. Do the work properly. Tell the client the truth about what the property needs.
1984
Mike Hurlburt leaves the United States Air Force and works as a property superintendent. His first commercial contract is a bank property in Tampa.
1990s
That first contract turns into a portfolio of commercial properties. Tampa Turf Services grows on referrals across Tampa.
2019
Justin Hurlburt comes in after 12 years as Regional Director of Sales and Customer Service at Hapag-Lloyd Container Line, then an executive customer service role at Masonite. He works alongside his father.
2020
Mike retires to spend time with his wife and grandchildren, fishing across Florida. Justin becomes principal owner and keeps the standard his father set.
Most landscape disappointments come from the same place: the client could not picture the result, and nobody showed them. The process exists to remove that gap. See residential landscape design for what the drawings look like on a house.
The first meeting is on your property. We ask what you want, what you use the space for, and what you do not want. That last answer is usually the most useful one.
We walk the site, note grade, drainage and what is already planted, and turn that into drawings you can react to before anyone digs.
The package is a full-color scaled 2D drawing of the residence, a plant key with a photograph of every species, and a 3D sketch of the finished space.
A project manager owns the job from that first meeting to the final walk-through, then comes back on a schedule to find problems before you do.
We treat your property the way we would treat our own. A dedicated project manager, trained crews, scheduled quality checks, and a straight answer when something needs to be fixed.
If we cannot do a job properly, we say so. That is why clients from 1984 are still clients.
